As a Riley owner you may have heard or read about the Riley Rendezvous Events that have taken place in South Africa.
The first event, held in October 2004, took the cars through the Garden Route area around Knysna, with most of the cars tackling the mighty Swartberg Pass. Entrants from the UK and Australia were welcomed either in their own cars or loan cars.
The second Riley Rendezvous (RRV 2) was held in October of 2007 in and around the Battlefields of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Again Rileys from all corners of South Africa were joined by Australian cars and UK entrants.
It is proposed that the third edition of the Riley Rendezvous (RRV 3) will be held in October 2011. This is to be held in the Eastern Cape, starting and finishing in Port Elizabeth.
In order to gauge interest in the event, please return the “Expression of Interest” to the conveners. As arrangements are firmed up, additional details can be provided. Dependent on response, the requirements of Feeder Rallies or other supporting events can be assessed. Cars may be shipped to Cape Town, Durban or Port Elizabeth.
At this stage, no cost indication is available as it is dependent on entries. A non-refundable deposit will be required once more details are to hand and a “Provisional Programme” of the event is available.
Should there be Riley-ists that may consider joining the event, please either forward them this notification or advise the conveners of their details.
NOTICE OF EVENT
It is intended that the ‘RILEY RENDEZVOUS III’ Tour to be held in South Africa in October 2011.
LOCATION - The event will be centred around the Eastern Cape.
DATES - Pre Tour ‘Feeder’ events may be arranged from Cape Town and/or Durban. The Main event will start on Saturday the 15th of October 2011 in Port Elizabeth. The tour will finish on Saturday the 22nd of October 2011. A provisional programme will be circulated.
ELIGIBILITY – The Tour is open to all Riley Vehicles.
ENTRY FEE – Including accommodation - To be confirmed.
INDEMNITY – A form indemnifying the organizers will be required.
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – Attached.
DEPOSIT – Will be required.
NUMBER OF ENTRIES – Due to accommodation requirements the Tour is likely to be limited to the first 35 cars.
SUPPORT VEHICLE – A support vehicle and luggage vehicle may follow the tour.
SHIPPING OF VEHICLES – This remains the responsibility of the owners.
ROUTE – The route is subject to change and may include some short gravel sections.
